Social Enterprise Academy was created in partnership with the Scottish Government to give school-aged students the opportunity to take part in a transformative learning experience that develops key employability skills, while aspiring to affect ongoing social change in their communities. The Schools Awards Ceremony took place at Assembly Rooms Edinburgh in June 2018.

Can you tell us more about the recent Social Enterprise Academy Schools Awards Ceremony at the Assembly Rooms?
The Social Enterprise Academy’s school-based learning and development programme provides a hands-on experience of setting up and running a social enterprise, and the recent awards at Assembly Rooms were held in celebration of the amazing social enterprise businesses that have been set up by schools across Scotland.

What was the aim/purpose of this event?
This event was our 11th Social Enterprise in Education Awards which acted as a platform to showcase what the schools have been working on, as well as offering us a chance to present these schools with various awards. We invited family, friends and stakeholders to celebrate the fantastic achievements of Scotland’s young people and enjoy lunch within their social enterprise marketplace in the Assembly Rooms’ Ballroom.

What made the Assembly Rooms stand out as the right venue for the awards ceremony?
Its central location in the capital city, the size of venue and its beautiful interior really made the Assembly Rooms stand out for us as a venue.

How did Assembly Rooms assist with the planning and delivery on the day?
The staff are always very helpful and want to ensure that every event is a success. They are so professional, and the support they provide is unparalleled. Always a pleasure to work with the friendly, helpful staff.

Overall, how did you find your experience at Assembly Rooms?
Excellent. We’ve already booked to return again for our Awards in 2019.
