Hear how we helped catering company Appetite Events deliver their birthday celebration:

Approximately 200 attendees

Can you tell us more about Appetite Event’s recent celebration?
The event was to celebrate our 15th birthday. We wanted to celebrate the occasion with all our fabulous clients, suppliers and supporters – many of whom have been with us since those early days when we started out – and we were delighted so many guests could join us.

What made Assembly Rooms stand out as the place to host this event?
We have worked with the Assembly Rooms for many years and not only is the venue always absolutely stunning in its own right, it is also the perfect place to develop your own creative vision. The size and location of the venue were key too.

How did the team at Assembly Rooms help deliver your vision for the celebration?
For this event we had a pretty clear idea of what we were looking to achieve on the night and, as ever, the team helped us bring it all together beautifully, including adding to our stellar guest list and contributing to the lighting arrangements.

How long have you been part of the Assembly Rooms’ catering panel and what has been your
highlight to date?

We have been working with the Assembly Rooms almost since Appetite began, however, when Assembly Rooms formalised the catering panel in 2011 we were included on the official list. As for highlights, there have been so many memorable events across the years it is hard to choose just one. A few that immediately come to mind include the fabulous Winter Wonderland we created for a Rolex launch with Laings the Jewellers – the ballroom looked stunning and the client and their guests loved it; and a few years ago we organised our first dinner for 600 guests (we have catered for a number of larger dinners since but this was our first dinner of this size) which spanned across both the Ballroom and the Music Hall, that was fantastic.

We’ve also transformed the Music Hall into an Alpine Christmas Market for a private party which was so much fun and looked magical. Last year we organised a black tie dinner for charity Goldflair who raise awareness and funds for ethical jewellers which was a beautiful event, and we’ve done many other charitable events which are always good fun. A few that spring to mind are the annual Prince’s Trust Charity Lunch and the Big Curry Lunch event with ABF The Soldiers Charity which tends to involve a ‘cook off’ between the charity and our chefs!

Have the Assembly Rooms helped you overcome any obstacles over the years?
I’m sure they have although I can’t think of any immediately – one of the beauties of working so closely together over such a long period is it allows both parties to pre-empt challenges. We feel fortunate to have such a harmonious relationship with the Assembly Rooms team.

Would you recommend the Assembly Rooms?
Absolutely! We regularly recommend the Assembly Rooms. One of our specialities is finding the best venue for our clients, the best fit for their event if you like. Sometimes clients are not familiar with Edinburgh, or the venues available, so we listen to their needs and desires for their planned event and recommend accordingly. Unsurprisingly, Assembly Rooms is often top of the list.
