Artemis Doors Open Day: Celebrating 250 years of Edinburgh's New Town, and Assembly Rooms’ 230th anniversary

Artemis Doors Open Day September
23 September, 10:00am - 4:00pm
Free entry

The Assembly Rooms will be throwing open its doors on Saturday 23 September, inviting members of the public to step into the jiving, jitterbugging fifties.

The inimitable Muriel and Jasper Wylie, champions of 1950s good taste and elegance and connoisseurs at the art of being simply marvellous, will be hosting lessons in the essentials of dance and etiquette. The classes will give visitors a fun filled hour learning the best moves and manners from the period.

The public can take inspiration from films and images displayed around the venue from the decade that gave us Rebel Without a CauseSome Like It Hot and Roman Holiday before enjoying some retail therapy at our vintage fair.

Our brilliant bar team will be serving an array of suitably retro refreshments from our dedicated café, as well as other drinks and snacks.

There will be also free guided tours of the venue throughout the day at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm (no prior booking is required).

Dance and etiquette classes will take place at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Details on pre-booking will be released shortly.
